Evaluation – The Package

Evaluation – The Package
I am quite happy with the outcome of this short video however, there are definitely things that could be improved if our group were to re-shoot it. For example, there are slight continuity errors with some clothing and accessories. This was mainly because we were filming over two different days and so therefore some clothing might have been unavailable.  Also a few props were missing in some of the shoots, this includes a water bottle and some keys. Although having said that it is not very noticeable when watching the video.
One of the main continuity errors in my opinion would be the changes to lighting throughout filming in different locations. We did manage to edit a few of these scenes to make the contrast and lighting more consistent. Looking back at the editing choices we made with the lighting, I think using black and white would’ve been better, especially with the music choice as well. I feel like it would have suited the overall atmosphere better.
Even though these aspects could have been improved I am really proud of the video we created. We used a good range of camera angles and techniques which were fun to shoot. It was a little difficult at times to know where to place the camera for the best shot possible, but we came up with interesting ways to get around those issues. Although there were a few continuity errors, over all I think we done quite well when trying to keep things the same considering we had to shoot over two separate days. We also used our editing skills to cover up some minor issues on the POV shots by adding in blinks, which actually went well with the scene.

I think in this task we used our creativity and imagination well as we decided to have an ‘imaginary’ box. This was to give the viewer more of a connection when watching it as they could imagine it to be something personal/ close to them. Even though we didn’t know what the package was we can definitely understand the feelings that were being portrayed by the music and camera movements.

Evaluation Task ~ A Tense Meeting

Evaluation Task ~ A Tense Meeting (The Life of a Hershey's Bar)

In our short video the continuity went well, especially when we changed camera angles of the two people meeting and running down the stairs. Also the use of sound effects was used well when trying to build up the suspense of the Hershey bar falling. We made sure to keep all the camera equipment out of the scene so the mise-en-scene stayed true to our video idea.
However, once the bar dropped it came out of focus. If I were to do this again I would make sure all scenes were in focus before moving on to the editing stage. On the POV camera angle we had a moment of the view being blocked by the head of the person in front. This doesn't matter that much as it is still a POV shot, but obviously you need to see whats happening on screen. Another part of the video that could've been improved would be when the person coming to pick up the bar was seen entering the building, we did have that footage but didn't include it. Looking back we needed to check are editing process more closely to make sure everything went smoothly.

Induction Task

1. I enjoy watching a film/ series and then analyzing the things I see, for example the different camera shots used.

2. I have not done and voluntary or paid work for a Media company but I am open to the idea.

3. I haven't used many software's for editing, mainly just those for editing pictures (Abode Photoshop).

4. It is hard for me to remember the names of certain actors/ directors. However, Tom Hiddleston is my favourite actor. My favourite series at the moment is Reign and my favourite film would be Winter Soldier.

5. I can remember watching a very odd kids show called 'Boobah' with my nan when I went to visit her.

6. I usually watch media content with my mum or alone.

7. At the moment I am unsure as to what my dream job would be, however I would like to do something I enjoy.

8/9. If I had a dream job I would research more about it and find ways to 'ease' into it.

10. I looking forward to learning and developing my skills as much as I can in this course.
